TKC
members support Angel Hair for Kids | September
2006 |
Toronto, ON:
Our own Julie Muench (Senior Honda,
#72) is raising funds for this very worthwhile cause. She will also be
cutting off more than 10 inches of her long blonde hair in October, to have a
wig made for a child living with cancer.
Hair loss in children, especially during a time when they already find
themselves struggling with painful and difficult medical conditions, can have
a devastating effect on their self-esteem. Angel
Hair for Kids provides human hair wigs for children from financially
disadvantaged families who have lost their hair as a result of chemotherapy
and radiation treatments, burns, and other medical conditions.
It costs between $800 and $1200 to
make each wig. Julie will have official sponsorship sheets at the
next race, and income tax receipts are available for any donation over $20.00.
If everybody could make a small contribution, it would be greatly appreciated.
UPDATE -- October 2006: Julie was successful in supporting this
cause, and thanks to members of Toronto Kart Club, helped to raise over
$500.00 to accompany her donation of hair.

TKC
members help to raise funds for Cancer research | September
2005 |
Toronto, ON:
Our own Kristy Vincent
participated in the "Walk to End Breast Cancer" on September 9 and
10, 2005. Many members of the karting community helped to sponsor Kristy
in her quest to meet her fundraising goal. Kristy's message to the
members of TKC is below.
"The
Walk to End Breast Cancer (September 9 and 10) was the most challenging event
I have ever participated in. Walking 60 kilometres in two days isn't
something a lot of sane people would do. I still can't feel my
whole lower half. ..... But thanks to the Toronto Kart Club and all the other
donations, my sister Jade and I had collected a total of $4,173.35.
I want to thank everyone for their help and support for the Princess Margaret
Hospital Foundation."
Yours truly,
Kristy Vincent
